Michael Wolf– Cat

It’s the second and last weekend for the Cat Art Show. All the art is cat related and in a variety of mediums. Over 70 well known artists contributed work, including Shepard Fairey, Tracey Emin, Gary Baseman, FAILE, and Mercedes Helnwein. There is a beautiful piece by Nicholas Bowers, and if you are a Mighty Boosh fan, Noel Fielding also has a painting in the show.

All the artwork is for sale with a portion of the proceeds going to the Stray Cat Alliance of Los Angeles.

Art of Noise- Moments in Love

When I heard Katy Perry’s song Dark Horse, there was something about it that sounded really familiar. Thanks to a few searches, I found this song from the band Art of Noise that goes back to1983. According to Wiki, it was also played at Madonna’s wedding to Sean Penn as she walked down the aisle.

This video is a mess of bad wigs, ice skating, and a bizarre moment with a turtle (around 2:33).

Jake Bugg- Seen It All

Only 19 years old, and already English artist Jake Bugg has had an album reach number one on the UK Albums Chart (Jake Bugg 2012). His most recent, Shangri La, was released in November last year and was produced by Rick Rubin. He’s often compared to Bob Dylan but there is a lot of variety in his music as well as his influences.

This song is off his self-titled album. He’s playing tonight (1/24) at The Wiltern before moving on to Dallas and then Houston, Texas.

Photographs by Andrew Moore (Bano Rojo, 2000 and La Espera, Cayo Granma, Santiago de Cuba, 2012 and Cash Meier Barn, Shadbolt Ranch, Cherry County, Nebraska)

The images from Andrew Moore’s show currently at Couturier Gallery are both beautiful and sad as they show Cuba as it is now, while at the same time the evidence of what it once was is all around.

The beauty of decay is also evident in some of the images from another of Moore’s subjects, Nebraska. These images are currently on view in New York at Yancey Richardson gallery.
