Director Alex Winter will be at the Aero Theater to discuss his film The Panama Papers following a screening of the film

Yuval Sharon, founder and director of LA’s The Industry, Broad collection artist Neo Rauch and painter Rosa Loy will join curator Ed Schad to discuss their production of Richard Wagner’s “Lohengrin” at the 2018 Bayreuth Festival for The Broad’s Un-Private Collection series of talks ($15)

Artist Monika Baer will be discussing her work at Hammer Museum

Of Montreal are playing at The Fonda Theatre with Reptaliens opening

Young Fathers are playing at The Fonda Theatre with Algiers

Art At The Rendon is transforming The Rendon Hotel for STORIES, an immersive, operatic work, with a layering of film projection and live performances. Guests will move throughout the building as they experience different scenes. All proceeds will benefit Inner-City Arts and Cornerstone Theater Company ($25- also running on Saturday and Sunday)

The Aero Theatre is having a Sergio Leone double feature with A Fistful of Dollars and the sequel For a Few Dollars More

Vundabar, Peach Kelli Pop and Illuminati Hotties are playing at the Troubadour

The Goon Sax are playing at the Bootleg Theater with Post Life and Prissy Whip

Film School are playing at Zebulon with Former Faces

Thutmose is performing at the Moroccan Lounge with Tre Capital and Malcolm Anthony opening

 

Saturday

18th Street Arts Center is having a 30th Anniversary Celebration with a free performance art event and a public birthday party. The event also includes open studios and exhibitions. (free but RSVP for ticket)

Tacocat are playing at the Bootleg Theater with Black Belt Eagle Scout and Susan opening

Keystone Art Space in Lincoln Heights is having it’s open studios event from 6-10pm, with over 50 artists participating

Artist Mimi Lauter will discuss etchings by James Ensor and a 15th century Missale Romanum and how they relate to her own art practice at LACMA (free but reservation required)

Petit Biscuit is playing at The Fonda Theatre with Melvv and Super Duper

Cloak & Dagger 2018 is happening at the Los Angeles Theatre with a long list of bands performing (starting at 3pm) including She Wants Revenge, The Faint, TR/ST, Drab Majesty, HEALTH and more

 

Saturday and Sunday

Otis College of Art and Design is hosting 100% Festival with creative workshops, speakers, a makers market, installations, music and more (free)

Inglewood Open Studios is a great way to check out the works of the local artist community (also on Sunday)

 

Sunday

Zebulon is hosting a free screening of Stanley Kubrick’s Paths of Glory with an introduction by Jim Hosney, former “distinguished scholar in residence” and lecturer at AFI. Later in the evening there will be a free show with bands Everyone is Dirty, Prism Bitch and Adult Beverage.

Petit Biscuit continues his Presence Tour at The Fonda Theatre with Vindata and Hazey Eyes

 

*It’s Veteran’s Day, one of the days of the year that the National Park Service waives their entrance fees if you feel like taking a trip out of town *
