John Craig Freeman is previewing and discussing his project EEG AR: Things We Have Lost at LACMA. Viewing devices will be provided to check out the virtual objects he’s created. If you miss this, you could also visit on Saturday and participate in this work by conjuring images with your brainwaves (equipment provided)

Downtown Artwalk is tonight and this time there is an art show celebrating the life of producer J Dilla-

Create:Fixate 13 Year Anniversary Celebration- I Art You event in Venice is an art show and benefit- there will also be cocktails, music and other entertainment (20$)

Friday

Mrs.Magician are opening for Swami John Reis and The Blind Shake at the Satellite

Hollyhock House in Barnsdall Park will re-open (after major renovations) from 4pm to 11am on Saturday for free self-guided tours. The house has made appearances in Blade Runner, Karate Kid, and The House on Haunted Hill

LACMA is playing a double bill of The Goonies and Pee-wee’s Big Adventure

Cherry Glazerr is hosting “A Very Musty Pre-Valentine’s Day Affair” at the Echo with LA Witch, The Frights, Buttertones, and Tête- advanced tickets are sold out but there may be some at the door day of

The Dodos are playing the Roxy

NELA’s Second Saturday gallery night is a great chance to spend some time in Highland Park

Don Bachardy is speaking about his work at Craig Krull Gallery

Silverlake Flea is on at Micheltorena St. Elementary School and there will be free ice cream

LACE + Artillery are having a Valentine’s Day Party with cocktails and performances.  It’s also the last day to check out the current group show

LA Zine Fest is in Glendale this year with 200 exhibitors and free

The Festival of (In)appropriation is at the Spielberg Theatre at the Egyptian and features a program of “cutting-edge experimental found footage shorts”, including Nothing by LJ Frezza which is 6 minutes of footage where nothing happens from the TV series Seinfeld
