This song from 1985, was the first and only top 10 hit for Aimee Mann’s band . She has since gone on to a strong career that includes being nominated for a Grammy and Academy award for the song “Save Me” from the film Magnolia.
Buzzcocks- Ever Fallen in Love (1978- Top of the Pops)
Buzzcocks are one of the bands playing this weekend (6/6-6/8) at the Ink-N-Iron Festival in Long Beach on the Queen Mary. The festival combines burlesque, tattoo arts, art shows, car shows, music and more. The Damned, Merle Haggard, Sick of it All and Suicidal Tendencies are among the list of bands that will also be playing over the weekend.
Luscious Jackson- Naked Eye
Luscious Jackson formed in 1991 and were the first band on the Beastie Boys label Grand Royal. Kate Schellenbach, their drummer, had played with the Beastie Boys from 1981 to 1984. The song Naked Eye, off their 1996 album Fever In Fever Out, was the band’s biggest hit. They have recently reunited after breaking up in 2000, and are playing at the El Rey on Friday, May 30th.

The Notorious B.I.G.- Juicy
Yesterday was Biggie Small’s birthday. He would have been 42 years old. “Juicy” is off his album Ready to Die which was released in 1994.

Written by Cole Porter for his musical Kiss Me, Kate (1948), it was recorded by Ella Fitzgerald in 1956.
It is currently too darn hot in Los Angeles- hope everyone here is staying cool.
Morrissey- Everyday Is Like Sunday
This song was released on Morissey’s debut solo album, Viva Hate, in 1988. Morrissey is playing Saturday 5/10 at the Los Angeles Sports Arena.
