Pile are playing at the Bootleg Theater with State Champion and Clear Capsule opening

Bedouine is playing Moroccan Lounge with Holy Hive opening

Hollywood Night Market at Yamashiro is a lovely way to have some food and drinks while enjoying beautiful views of the city- free shuttles leave from the Mosaic parking lot

 

Friday

Australian post punk band RVG are playing at Gold Diggers

FIGFest, the free music night at FIGat7th, continues this week with performances by Sudan Archives and Oddisee & Good Company

Business of Dreams, Devon Williams, and Gun Outfit are playing a free show at the Highland Park Bowl

The Egyptian Theatre is showing a double feature of Martin Scorsese’s Alice Doesn’t Live Here Any More followed by John Cassavetes’ A Woman Under The Influence. The screening includes a discussion with actress Jodie Foster following the first film.

Aero Theatre is showing a double feature of Bonnie and Clyde (Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty in the title roles), followed by Robert Altman’s Thieves Like Us

Diane Coffee is playing at the Teragram Ballroom with Claire George and Deep Fields opening

Ramonda Hammer is having a record release party at The Echo with Spare Parts for Broken Hearts and Cosmo Gold also performing

Choreographer, artist, and writer Will Rawls will be sharing his work in progress, which incorporates dance, sound and stop-motion animation, and is currently in production as part of his residency at the Hammer.

Shannon Lay is playing a free show at The Love Song with Half Gringa

Girlpool are playing a free show in Pasadena at One Colorado as part of KCRW’s Summer Nights programming

CIACLA (Contemporary Irish Arts Center) is opening in Bergamot Station and for the launch of its summer program is having live performances by Amanda Coogan and other artists to coincide with the opening of Coogan’s site specific installation, The Ladder is Always There

Smokin Grooves Festival is taking place at Queen Mary Events Park with a very long list of performers including Erykah Badu, Usher, Ella Mai, T-Pain, Pink $weats, Ravyn Lenae, Mereba, Kari Faux, The Pharcyde, Slum Village, Twista, Maverick Sabre, and more

Self Discovery for Social Survival, a collaborative film from record label Mexican Summer and surf and outdoor brand Pilgrim Surf + Supply, is premiering at The Palace Theatre with a live score performed by Allah-Las, Connan Mockasin, and Andrew VanWyngarden of MGMT.

The Cult are playing at The Greek Theatre with Prayers, Zola Jesus, and VOWWS opening

Pasadena Chalk Festival, is an annual free two day festival with hundreds of chalk works plus live music

Hollywood Fringe Festival runs this week through June 30th with tons of performances taking place at many of the theaters in the Hollywood area

As part of Bloomsday, a celebration of the life of James Joyce, Hammer Museum will be hosting a dramatic reading from Ulysses featuring veteran actors Síle Bermingham, James Gallo, James Lancaster, John Lee, Johnny O’Callaghan, and Sonya Macari and later have a Guinness in the courtyard while listening to Rattle the Knee

FEELS, Flat Worms, and Speck are playing at Rec Center

Toro y Moi, Noname, and Ian Isiah are opening for Chromeo at the Hollywood Bowl

Faultline bar is hosting TOM’s Bar 2019 Daddywood, a benefit for The Tom of Finland Foundation with performances by Le1F, Brooke Candy, Sky Ferreira and more

To mark the opening of the Getty’s Pacific Standard Time: LA/LA initiative, MOCA Grand Ave will re-present Anna Maria Maiolino’s performance piece Entrevidas in conjunction with the exhibition Anna Maria Maiolino. Maiolino will perform the work. (free)
