This week from Thursday to Sunday (8/15-8/18/19) is Echo Park Rising and there are SO MANY bands playing- all for FREE! (full list here) There are also deals from local businesses, DJ sets, and more, happening as well so make sure to check out their website.

Kishi Bashi is playing a free show at Skirball Cultural Center

It’s the last two weeks of free Shakespeare in Griffith Park, tonight’s play is Titus Andronicus, with a free pre-show discussion of LACMA’s current exhibit, To Rome and Back: Individualism and Authority in Art, 1500-1800, with Leah Lehmbeck and David Bardeen

In conjunction with Adler Guerrier: Conditions and Forms for blck Longevity at the California African American Museum, Guerrier and Los Angeles based artist Todd Gray will discuss their related interests in examining landscape and history through photography and collage, moderated by curator Diana Nawi. ICA LA (Institute of Contemporary Art) is having it’s Grand Opening Weekend with exhibition tours, talks, performances, workshops and more (free, also on Sunday)

It’s the second day of the Day N Night Fest in Anaheim and tonight Chance The Rapper, SZA, Vic Mensa, Earl Sweatshirt, Lil Uzi Vert, and Playboi Carti are just some of the many performers (Travis Scott headlines Friday)

Pamela M. Lee, Osgood Hooker Professorship in Fine Arts, Stanford University, will be at LACMA to discuss the art scenes in New York and Los Angeles at the time Virginia Dwan operated her galleries in the two cities. The free lecture is in conjunction with LACMAs current exhibition Los Angeles to New York: Dwan Gallery, 1959–1971

For the opening of their exhibition at Gavlak Gallery, Los Super Elegantes will be performing a medley of their greatest performances
