Yung Lean ft. FKA twigs- Bliss

Every month I listen to the majority of bands/singers/musicians/artists who are playing in Los Angeles and select some for the playlist. It includes a variety of genres and mostly the most current work by the artist.

This month’s playlist includes the song above by Swedish rapper Yung Lean and FKA twigs. The song samples the 1987 song by Russian band Alyans (Альянс), На заре.

Lady Wray- Under the Sun

Every month I listen to the majority of bands/singers/musicians/artists who are playing in Los Angeles. This month’s playlist is long, but believe it or not it, this is the narrowed down version. There are many different genres included and most of the selections are recent works.

This month I’ve also included a song from one of the original post punk bands, Gang of Four (founded in 1976), who are currently on tour.

While 2021 certainly had improvements over 2020, the pandemic continued, and many songs in this year’s selections reflect aspects of that.  Depression, loneliness, alienation, frustration and escape come up often. But some songs included also celebrate life and being hopeful about the future. There are, of course, songs about love and relationships too. Although a few songs on the list are very popular, many of the songs chosen are a little less mainstream.

Once again looking forward to a new year, new music, and hopefully a return to normal for 2022!
