Coachella is this weekend (4/12-4/14) and next (4/19-4/21) and features a lot of great bands. Below are playlists with a selection of some of the bands playing on each day and a list of their set times and locations at the festival as a way to help narrow down some of the choices.

Friday

Holidaze, a benefit for the community of Paradise California, is taking place at Dynasty Typewriter at The Hayworth with a list of comedians performing including Bob Odenkirk and The Lucas Brothers, as well as a “musical experience” by LYNAS, and surprise guests

Union Station is having a free cocoa concert with a performance by reggae band The Lions, DJ sets by Connie Price, a cocoa bar, a holiday craft zone, free cotton candy, and more

Tijuana Panthers are playing at The Roxy with Gothic Tropic and The Cozzmos opening

The Shacks are opening for Middle Kids at the Echoplex

 

Saturday

Arcana Books is hosting an event to celebrate Todd Hido’s new book Bright Black World, with a book signing and refreshments from 4-6pm

Z Berg & Friends are having a Holiday Show at Pico Union Project

Bergamot Station is having their annual Winter Open House, a free day of art, artist talks, food, and entertainment that includes The Other Reindeer Carolers and a performance by Kybele Dance Company

Helena Deland is playing at The Echo with Buzzy Lee

Artist Thomas Demand will be in conversation with LACMA CEO and Wallis Annenberg Director Michael Govan at Art Catalogues at LACMA. Demand will also be signing copies of his new book. (free)

George Clinton and Parliament Funkadelic are playing at Catch One with special guest Peanut Butter Wolf

 

Sunday

In the morning Hauser & Wirth is hosting a 90 minute soundbath meditation amidst the mobiles of their Calder exhibition ($15)

To celebrate the opening of The Jeweled Isle: Art from Sri Lanka at LACMA, there will be a free lamp lighting ceremony followed by performances by the Sri Lanka Foundation of Performing Arts and Thath Jith Dance Company

Zebulon is having a Holiday Bazaar all day (free also on Saturday) and afterwords Pavo Pavo, Cornelia Murr and Greg Uhlmann will be playing a free show

Childish Gambino will be performing at The Forum with special guest Rae Sremmurd
