Coachella is this weekend (4/12-4/14) and next (4/19-4/21) and features a lot of great bands. Below are playlists with a selection of some of the bands playing on each day and a list of their set times and locations at the festival as a way to help narrow down some of the choices.

Friday

Fashion designer and Louis Vuitton artistic director Virgil Abloh is DJ’ing on the Mojave Stage- 6:20-7:10

Weezer- 8:35- 9:35 on the Coachella Stage or check out Idris Elba’s DJ skills on the Yuma Stage for a bit, he’s on from 9-11:00

NVDES are opening for Waters at The Roxy

Hammer chief curator Connie Butler will be discussing Marisa Merz’s work at the Hammer, followed by a screening of artist Tacita Dean’s short film of Merz’s husband Mario Merz and a discussion with Dean (free)

At MOCA Grand Avenue, assistant curator Lanka Tattersall will be leading a walk through of Patrick Staff: Weed Killer at 6pm, and at 7pm author S. Løchlann Jain will be discussing Staff’s work and the subject of cancer, which she wrote a book about (free)

So Many Wizards are having celebrating their vinyl release with a performance at The Hi Hat with Roses, Susan, and Trabants

This month’s Downtown Art Walk features a Short Film Fest

Merchandise are playing at The Echo with B Boys and Chasms

Boogarins are playing at the Bootleg Theater with JJUUJJUU

First Fridays returns to the Natural History Museum with a discussion on LA food with Jonathan Gold, Bricia Lopez, and Josh Kun, and performances by Nick Hakim, Gabriel Garzón-Montano, and Wild Belle

Constitutional Happy Hour at the Hammer Museum is covering the topic of voting rights this week

Hurray for the Riff Raff are playing at the Teragram Ballroom with Making Movies

For Raphael Montañez Ortiz’s opening at LAXART he will be performing his Ritual Piano Destruction Concert and Humpty Dumpty Performance

Yoke Lore is opening for Overcoats at The Echo

There’s a free screening of Spike Jonze’s Her at Union Station

White Fence is performing at The Getty for their free summer concert series Off the 405

The Secret City artistic tent revival group is having their first outdoor gathering- with live music, dancers and an LA theme- during the day at Grand Performances

South Londoner Ray BLK is performing at The Roxy with Rayana Jay and Rotana

Saint Pé (of Black Lips and Diamond Rugs) is playing at the Bootleg Theater with Never Young and Vex Ruffin

Ciclavia returns to create car-free streets- this time in Glendale and Atwater Village

All Weekend

It’s LA Pride and there are events from 6/9-6/11 including LGBT Night at Dodger Stadium (Friday), LA Pride Festival in WeHo (Saturday has Chromeo, ILOVEMAKONNEN and Young M.A. among the performers, and Sunday has Brandy and Lil Mo) and this year instead of the traditional parade there will be the Resist March to coincide with the National Equality March for Unity and Pride in Washington DC.
