Buzzcocks- Ever Fallen in Love (1978- Top of the Pops)
Buzzcocks are one of the bands playing this weekend (6/6-6/8) at the Ink-N-Iron Festival in Long Beach on the Queen Mary. The festival combines burlesque, tattoo arts, art shows, car shows, music and more. The Damned, Merle Haggard, Sick of it All and Suicidal Tendencies are among the list of bands that will also be playing over the weekend.
Luscious Jackson- Naked Eye
Luscious Jackson formed in 1991 and were the first band on the Beastie Boys label Grand Royal. Kate Schellenbach, their drummer, had played with the Beastie Boys from 1981 to 1984. The song Naked Eye, off their 1996 album Fever In Fever Out, was the band’s biggest hit. They have recently reunited after breaking up in 2000, and are playing at the El Rey on Friday, May 30th.
The Notorious B.I.G.- Juicy
Yesterday was Biggie Small’s birthday. He would have been 42 years old. “Juicy” is off his album Ready to Die which was released in 1994.

This song was released on Morissey’s debut solo album, Viva Hate, in 1988. Morrissey is playing Saturday 5/10 at the Los Angeles Sports Arena.

This song is off The Dandy Warhol’s album Thirteen Tales from Urban Bohemia which was released in 2000.

Pet Shop Boys- Opportunities (Let’s Make Lots of Money)
The Pet Shop Boys, like a few other acts who were big in the 1980’s (Pixies, The Cult, The Replacements), are playing Coachella this year. This song from was on their debut album Please from 1986. This satirical song was meant to be a commentary on the consumerism of the 80’s but feels just as appropriate today.
Bombay Bicycle Club- Carry Me
Touring for their latest album, So Long, See You Tomorrow, which was released in February of this year, Bombay Bicycle Club are playing 4/16 at the El Rey Theatre.
