This week from Thursday to Sunday (8/15-8/18/19) is Echo Park Rising and there are SO MANY bands playing- all for FREE! (full list here) There are also deals from local businesses, DJ sets, and more, happening as well so make sure to check out their website.

In the listings below I have chosen some of the best shows to see for each day.  I’ve also made a playlist if you want to check out some of the bands ahead of time.

 

Thursday

Janelane are playing at The Echo from 6-6:30pm and later Skin Mag are at there from 7:40 to 8:10pm.

Beauty Queen are at Sticky Rice from 8:10 to 8:40pm

Billy Changer are playing at Spacedust from 9-9:30 followed by Foliage from 10-10:30pm

MOCA Grand Avenue and the Los Angeles Filmforum are showing Alexandra Cuesta’s film Territorio, an experimental film about the people of Ecuador, with Cuesta present for the screening ($15)

Getty Museum’s Friday Flights program includes artist Molly Surno presenting We of Me, a performance featuring Brian Chase of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs; LA artist collective Institute for New Feeling presenting a site specific project, and there will be music by Sun Araw

Lonely Hearts Ball at the Teragram Ballroom has Pity Party, The Red Pears, Jurassic Shark, and The Beach Bums playing

Natural History Museum’s Summer Nights in the Garden returns with cocktails, music, science and nature activities, and more (free)

For tonight’s part of Nonplussed Fest at Zebulon, Pink Mountaintops will be playing with Joe Cardamone and Annie Hardy opening

DJ Nights returns to Grand Park, this time curated by Monalisa (free)

The Agenda Festival is happening in Long Beach with pop up shops, art installations, panel discussions and performances by Tyler the Creator, Ludacris and more
