Oso Oso are playing with The Sidekicks and Future Teens at The Hi Hat

Ever Present, the free performance series at The Getty returns with a celebration of plant culture inspired by Mort Garson’s 1976 classic electronic album Mother Earth’s Plantasia. The album will be streaming all day in the Robert Irwin designed garden, and performers include New York-based Robert Aiki Aubrey Lowe, known for composing with plant-based bio data, ambient guitarist Noveller, Florist’s Emily A. Sprague, Lucky Dragons, and Gregg Kowalsky—all performing amid a custom stage installation by Hand & Rose. There will also be presentations, interactive synthesizer work stations, and more.

LACMA’s summer after-hours party Muse “til Midnight returns with DJ sets from Actress, Octo Octa, and Yu Su, a live performance by Julianna Barwick, art activities, access to several current exhibitions, drinks, food, and more

Hammer Museum is hosting Abortion Laws: State by State, a panel discussion that will address “the various state-specific anti-choice efforts, and considers ramifications for the future of Roe v. Wade and reproductive rights more broadly”. Shaniqua McClendon, political director for Crooked Media, will be moderating a discussion with California Senator Connie M. Leyva, Loyola Law School professor Brietta Clark, and NARAL Pro-Choice America’s Amy Everitt.

Space 15 Twenty is having an early live music event with Justus Proffit, Cape Weather and XINXIN playing free

Viva! Pomona music festival is happening over two days at The Glass House with a long list of bands that includes Beach Goons, Y La Bamba, French Vanilla, Junkie, Kicked Off the Streets, Not From England, Inner Wave, Little Jesus, Jean Dawson, Lealani, Los Retros, and many, many more. $25 per day

Independent Shakespeare Co. is performing Twelfth Night in Griffith Park on Saturday. On Sunday get there early for crafts and Players in the Park featuring Shakes-Queer with drag performer Pickle and ISC’s Xavi Moreno teaching everyone to recite Shakespeare before a performance of Pericles.

 

Sunday

Long Beach’s Zaferia District is having the one day music and comedy festival Happy Sundays at several local venues. Bands include Janelane, Billy Changer, The Molochs, The Gems, Triptides, Cat Scan, Tropa Magica, Prettiest Eyes, Girl Tears, and more plus comedy with Neil Hamburger

The Aero Theatre is showing a double feature of Working Girl and Thelma and Louise with an introduction by author Sloan De Forest

Artist Jennifer West will be choosing artwork from LACMA’s Photography and Prints & Drawings collections to display in the Study Center and discussing why she selected them and how they relate to her own art practice as part of LACMA’s Artists on Art series. (free but ticket required)

There’s a lot to do at Grand Park today- first Bernie Sanders will be having a rally there at 2:30pm and later the ACLU has a free all day event that includes speakers, a panel discussion, and a performance by Tom Morello (of Rage Against The Machine) with special guests Vic Mensa and K. Flay

From 12-5pm is the 13th Annual Santa Monica Airport Artwalk, with open art studios, art exhibitions, art demonstrations, performances, and more (free)

Amyl and The Sniffers are playing at the Bootleg Theater with Richard Rose and Shark Toys opening

Hippie Sabotage are playing at the Hollywood Palladium

MOCA Senior Curator Bennett Simpson will lead a final walkthrough of both Zoe Leonard: Survey and Laura Owens at The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA – both exhibitions close on Monday 3/25 (admission to the museum and this program are both free)
